Ranchi: A state-level workshop on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was organized at Almanar Campus in Ranchi on Sunday under the joint banner of Jharkhand Janadhikar Mahasabha, United Milli Forum, APCR, Sajha Kadam, and Bharat Jodo Abhiyan. Social activists, representatives of various organizations, and campaign members from different districts participated in the event.
Addressing the gathering, United Milli Forum patron Dr. Hasan Raza emphasized that every vote plays a vital role in strengthening democracy. He said collective efforts and public awareness are essential to ensure that the names of genuine and eligible voters are not removed from the electoral rolls.
During the workshop, Siraj Dutta highlighted the challenges being faced in the SIR process and discussed possible solutions with participants from different districts. Praveer Peter explained the correct procedure for filling out enumeration forms, while Ziaullah elaborated on the steps voters should take if their names are missing from the electoral rolls.
Elina Horo and Apoorva led discussions on various aspects of the SIR process. Manthan, Tom Kavla, and Elina Horo outlined future strategies and action plans aimed at increasing voter awareness and participation.
The workshop also featured online sessions by Rahul Shastri of Bharat Jodo Abhiyan (Delhi), RTI activist Amrita Johri, Santosh Rathod from Gujarat, and Shabbir Ahmed of the Sabar Institute, West Bengal. They shared important information related to the SIR process and voter rights.
The programme concluded with closing remarks by Asad Bari, Secretary of Milli Mulki Umoor. The event was moderated by Afzal Anees.
Speakers urged citizens to actively participate in the electoral roll revision process and help ensure that no eligible voter is deprived of their constitutional right to vote.
