Ranchi:: The Jharkhand State Secretariat of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has strongly condemned the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid conducted at the residence of former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The party termed the action as part of a political conspiracy allegedly orchestrated by the BJP-led central government to target opposition leaders.
In a statement issued by the CPI(M) state secretariat, the party alleged that central agencies are being continuously misused to target prominent opposition leaders across the country. It stated that the ED action was aimed at creating a negative perception among the public and gaining political advantage.
The party further said that the BJP is worried about the growing popularity of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and CPI(M) in Kerala, and therefore opposition leaders are being selectively targeted. CPI(M) asserted that neither Pinarayi Vijayan nor the party would be intimidated by such actions and that the struggle for democracy and people’s rights would continue.
The statement also raised questions over the possible role of the UDF government in the matter. Referring to the recent Delhi visit of newly sworn-in UDF Chief Minister Mr. Satheesan and his reported meetings with senior BJP leaders, the party questioned whether there was any political script behind the ED raid.
CPI(M) said that the people of the country have now understood the politics behind the misuse of central agencies and that democratic forces would unitedly oppose such actions.
