Over 600 Cyclists Participate In 14-Km Ride As Senior Officials Flag Off Event Under Fit India Movement
Bokaro, March 29: Reinforcing its commitment to health, sustainability, and community engagement, Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) organised the SAIL-Bokaro Cyclothon 2026 on Sunday under the banner of the nationwide Fit India Movement. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 600 cyclists representing Bokaro and nearby cities.
Director In-Charge Priya Ranjan flagged off the cyclothon in the presence of senior officials including Executive Director (Human Resources) Rajshree Banerjee, Executive Director (Materials Management) Chitta Ranjan Mishra, Executive Director (Projects) Anish Sengupta, Executive Director (Operations) Anup Kumar Dutta, Executive Director (Medical & Health Services) Dr. Bibhuti Bhushan Karunamay, and Executive Director (Mines) Vikas Manwati, along with chief general managers and other senior officers.
The 14-kilometre ride commenced at 6:30 AM near the Archery Training Centre in Sector-4. Participants completed two rounds along a predefined route covering key junctions including Patharkatta Chowk, Ram Mandir Chowk, Rajendra Chowk, and Gandhi Chowk before returning to the starting point. Comprehensive arrangements for participant safety, hydration, and medical support were ensured throughout the course.
Organised across multiple categories for men and women, the cyclothon concluded with a prize distribution ceremony where winners were felicitated by the chief guest and senior officials.
The initiative highlighted BSL’s focus on promoting cycling as a healthy, eco-friendly mode of transport while fostering a culture of fitness and collective participation within the community.
