Ranchi: The martyrdom day of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, along with Sukhdev and Rajguru, was observed with solemnity and enthusiasm at Bhagat Singh Park in Harmu on Sunday. The programme was organised by the Bhagat Singh Foundation.
The event began with revolutionary songs and cultural performances, creating a patriotic atmosphere. Attendees paid floral tributes to the statues of the martyrs.
Addressing the gathering, Foundation president Jayashankar Chaudhary said that farmers, workers, youth and the poor continue to face exploitation under prevailing socio-economic conditions. He also expressed concern over global developments and criticised what he described as imperialistic tendencies in international politics.
Guest speaker Anuj Tiwari underlined that Bhagat Singh’s ideology remains relevant in contemporary times and continues to serve as a guiding force in the fight against injustice.
CPI candidate from Kanke Assembly constituency Santosh Rajak called upon the youth to follow the ideals of Bhagat Singh and discharge their responsibilities towards society.
Several dignitaries attended the event, including Ward No. 26 councillor Pradeep Kumar, senior Congress leader Rinku Verma and Mahi Foundation president Ibrar Ahmad.
Others present included Prayag Dubey, Aftab Jameel, Pawan Jedia, Ajay Singh, M.D. Shakeel, Murshid Bhai, Ravindra Singh ‘Bittu’, Basant Kumar, Ramesh Singh, Arjun Ram, Manoj Kumar, Shyamal Chakravarty (IPTA) and Prem Kumar (IPTA, Palamu), among others.
