Bokaro Steel Plant, a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has been honoured with the prestigious Kalinga Safety Excellence Award (Silver Category) for its outstanding safety performance during the year 2024. The award was presented at a ceremony held at the Mayfair Convention Centre, Bhubaneswar.
The award was handed over to the representatives of Bokaro Steel Plant by Surma Padhy, Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, and Rabindra Narayan Behera, Member of Parliament from Odisha. The event witnessed participation from several industry leaders, safety experts and professionals.
The Kalinga Safety Excellence Award recognises organisations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to safety systems, workplace risk management and a strong safety culture.
Bokaro Steel Plant earned this honour through a comprehensive evaluation process, which included submission of detailed documentation on safety initiatives, best practices, and a digital presentation before an expert jury highlighting innovation, risk-control measures and employee involvement.
The plant management stated that this achievement reflects its strong safety culture and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining world-class safety standards in the future.
