CPI-ML stages protest at Albert Ekka Chowk against rising fuel and gas prices

Ranchi: CPI-ML workers on Saturday staged a protest at Albert Ekka Chowk in Ranchi against the rising prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas. Prior to the demonstration, party workers took out a march from the CPI-ML state office located at Mahendra Singh Bhawan on Kali Mandir Main Road. The march culminated in a public meeting at Albert Ekka Chowk.

During the protest, the demonstrators raised slogans against the Central government and demanded rollback of the recent hike in fuel and LPG prices. Slogans such as “Control inflation” and “Make petrol, diesel and gas affordable” were raised during the agitation.

Addressing the gathering, Manoj Bhakt alleged that the Centre increased fuel prices immediately after the Assembly elections, thereby putting additional burden on common people. He claimed that fuel prices were kept under control during the elections and raised once the polling process was over.

He further said that despite a decline in crude oil prices in the international market, petrol and diesel prices have not been reduced in the country. Accusing the government of favouring oil companies, he alleged that the public is continuously being burdened with rising inflation.

The CPI-ML demanded immediate rollback of the increased prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas and urged the government to take effective measures to control inflation. Party leaders warned of launching a wider agitation if the demands are not met.
