AISA Alleges Move to Implement Corporate Model in Education

Ranchi: The All India Students’ Association (AISA) on Thursday announced a statewide agitation against the Higher and Technical Education Department’s resolution on “Clustering of Colleges”. Addressing a press conference, the organization said awareness campaigns, signature drives and protest programmes would be conducted among students, teachers and employees at universities and colleges across Jharkhand.

AISA Jharkhand state secretary Trilokinath alleged that the cluster system being implemented under NEP 2020 and RUSA was an attack on the rights of states in the education sector. He said the policy would deprive students of multidisciplinary education in a single institution and increase their financial burden.

State vice-president Vijay Kumar claimed that the new arrangement was aimed at reducing permanent posts of teachers and employees while promoting privatization in higher education institutions.

State joint secretary Sanjana Mehta alleged that the government was pushing self-financed and vocational courses in place of regular programmes, which would impose heavy fees on students.

AISA leaders warned that if the resolution was not withdrawn, the organization would intensify its statewide protest movement.
