Lenin’s Ideas Remain Relevant Today: CPI(M)

Ranchi: On the occasion of the 156th birth anniversary of Vladimir Lenin, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) observed “Lenin Day” across Jharkhand. Programmes were organised at the state office and in various districts, where party workers paid tribute to Lenin’s ideology and revolutionary legacy.

The main function at the state office was presided over by Amal Azad. Addressing the gathering, State Secretary Prakash Viplav said that the strategic and tactical direction given by Lenin during the period of imperialist wars led to the historic socialist revolution in Russia. He noted that, for the first time in history, state power came directly into the hands of workers and peasants.

He further stated that while the “Social Democrats” of Germany, France and England were compromising with their respective imperialist regimes, Russia under Lenin’s leadership showed an alternative path. Lenin defined imperialism as the “highest stage of capitalism,” elevating Marxism to new heights and shaping the 20th century as an era of revolutionary transformations.

Prakash Viplav also said that the 20th century is known not only for socialist revolutions in China, Vietnam, Cuba and North Korea but also for the success of national liberation movements across the world. He emphasised the significant role played by communists in the defeat of Nazism and in safeguarding democracy.

State Secretariat member Sameer Das, speaking on the contemporary global scenario, said that since the 1990s, a phase of “counter-revolution” has emerged under the leadership of imperialist forces. In such circumstances, Lenin’s teachings continue to serve as a guiding light for the oppressed sections of society.

On the occasion, Prafulla Linda and Sudhanshu Shekhar also shared their views. During the programme, Prateek Mishra recited poems based on Lenin’s life and struggles.

Among those present were City Secretary Prakash Toppo, Veena Linda, K.P. Rai, Virendra Kumar, Kishore Chakravarty, Anirban Bose, Naveen Chaudhary, Amar Oraon, Mahesh Munda, Aman and several other party workers.
