Union Minister Jual Oram Inaugurates Blue Cart Store in Ranchi

Ranchi: On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, a new Blue Cart store was inaugurated on Wednesday at Niranjan Complex, located near Sidhu-Kanhu Park, Hatma. The store was formally inaugurated by Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram.

The objective of the Blue Cart store is to provide a wide platform for the rich tribal art and handicrafts of Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. The store showcases an impressive collection of Sohrai and Khovar paintings, Paitkar art, Pattachitra, Pipli/Chandua work, Saura art, Dokra metal crafts, stone and wood art, and creations inspired by the Chhau style. All artworks are handmade using natural colors and traditional techniques and are now available for purchase under one roof.

Blue Cart Director Pankaj Soni said that this unique initiative aims to preserve traditional art forms, connect artists directly with the market, and provide them access to global opportunities. At present, around 500 artists are associated with the platform without any middlemen, ensuring that they receive the full benefit of their work.

He further stated that the project plans to connect nearly 2,000 artists from the three states in the coming days to promote sustainable livelihoods through cultural heritage. The company also plans to open a total of eight Blue Cart stores in the future, with Ranchi being the first. More outlets will be opened at key locations in the city, including Birsa Munda Airport.

Mr. Soni added that these art forms, created using natural colors, clay, and metal, reflect not only creativity but also centuries-old traditions, faith, and the history of tribal life. Blue Cart’s mission is to give these artworks global recognition and provide artists with new markets and greater respect.

Several dignitaries, including BSNL GM Umesh Prasad Saha, Shivshankar Oraon, Gangotri Kujur, and Antu Tirkey, were present on the occasion.
