Ranchi/Davos (Switzerland): During the World Economic Forum, Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren, along with Mrs. Kalpana Murmu Soren and the official delegation of the Jharkhand government, held an important meeting with Sahil Dhawan, Head and President (IMEA Division) of global IT company Tech Mahindra. The meeting, held at the Tech Mahindra Lounge, focused on strengthening Jharkhand’s IT and digital ecosystem through detailed and positive discussions.
During the meeting, Tech Mahindra proposed investments in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, data centers, and emerging technologies in Jharkhand. Company representatives stated that Jharkhand is moving towards becoming an energy-surplus state. Since advanced technological infrastructures such as AI and data centers require large-scale energy resources, Tech Mahindra expressed its willingness to collaborate with the state government in developing advanced energy solutions, including underground energy storage systems.
The company also expressed interest in becoming a strategic partner in strengthening the framework of the proposed IT park in the state. In addition, Tech Mahindra showed a positive outlook toward establishing a Global Capability Center (GCC) in Jharkhand. Such a GCC would operate global functions such as IT services, research and development, mining research, finance, customer service, and digital innovation through local talent, thereby giving Jharkhand a new identity on the global technology map.
In the field of education and human resource development, Tech Mahindra shared its experience, highlighting that the company runs several programs related to higher education, scholarships, and skill development. It proposed working with the state government to provide skill development and employment-oriented training opportunities for the youth of Jharkhand, both within and outside the state.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren urged Tech Mahindra to collaborate in making the ITI institutions of the state more employment-oriented and industry-relevant. He emphasized that only through strong partnerships between industry and educational institutions can the youth be prepared to meet future requirements.
This meeting is being seen as a significant and positive step toward establishing Jharkhand as a leading state in the fields of IT, digital innovation, investment, and employment generation.
