A Century of Service, Now Moving Forward with New Technology and Vision

Ranchi ::The Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry and Allied Sciences (RINPAS) completed 100 years of its establishment on Thursday. On this occasion, a grand centenary celebration was organized, where Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren participated as the chief guest and congratulated the institution. He announced that RINPAS will now be equipped with cutting-edge medical facilities and move forward with a renewed vision.
Addressing the event, the Chief Minister said that the state government will strengthen the infrastructure and academic systems at RINPAS. Every effort will be made to ensure that mental health patients receive advanced and proper treatment using modern technologies.

Growing Need for Mental Health Services
The Chief Minister emphasized that mental health has become a serious challenge in today's times. Cases of depression, anxiety, and other psychological disorders are on the rise, making the role of institutions like RINPAS more important than ever.
He said, “No one wishes to be admitted to a mental health institution, but circumstances often force people to do so. In such situations, we must ensure that patients leave fully healthy and rehabilitated.”

Concern Over Abandonment by Families
He expressed concern over the fact that in many cases, families abandon their mentally ill relatives at institutions like RINPAS and never return to take them home. In some households, such patients are even kept in confinement.
He added, “One can only imagine the mental condition of such individuals. As a society, we need to be more sensitive and understanding toward mental health issues.”

Focus on Modern Technology in Treatment
The Chief Minister announced that RINPAS would integrate digital treatment tools, telemedicine, and state-of-the-art equipment to improve care delivery. The event also saw the inauguration of the Tele-Mental Health Video Conferencing Service and a new Digital Academy, aimed at extending mental health services to remote parts of the state.

Honoring a Legacy of Vision and Service
Recalling the founding of RINPAS in 1925, the Chief Minister said that those who envisioned the institution a hundred years ago must have been highly farsighted. Today, RINPAS stands not only as a pillar of mental health care in Jharkhand but also a nationally recognized center of excellence.
He added, “We want this institution to continue serving society for the next hundred years with even greater efficiency and dedication.”
