National Defence College Delegation Visits Lok Bhavan, Interacts with Governor


Ranchi:Hon’ble Governor Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Tuesday interacted with a delegation of the National Defence College (NDC) at Lok Bhavan, Ranchi. On the occasion, he said that the National Defence College is a prestigious institution in the field of national security and strategic studies, and its glorious history has earned it a distinct identity not only in India but also globally.




During the interaction, the Governor said that Jharkhand, known as the land of brave warriors, is a state rich in natural resources, mineral wealth, and a vibrant culture and traditions. The tribal communities of the state are known worldwide for their unique traditions. Being nature lovers, their festivals and lifestyle clearly reflect harmony with nature. He added that the people of Jharkhand are simple, hardworking, courageous, and well known for their hospitality.
Highlighting the tourism potential of Jharkhand, the Governor said that the state’s lakes, waterfalls, and world-famous religious centers are major attractions for tourists. He encouraged the delegation to visit these places if time permits.



On the occasion, the Governor also informed that the gardens of Lok Bhavan, Ranchi, have been opened to the general public from today. The garden houses more than 100 varieties of roses. He said that he personally interacts with visitors to seek their suggestions in order to further improve the garden.




During the interaction, delegation leader Major General Hartej Singh Bajaj said that the delegation comprises a total of 17 members, including five foreign participants from Ethiopia, Bangladesh, France, Brazil, and Japan. He said that the members of the delegation are keen to learn more about and study Jharkhand.



Members of the delegation observed that Jharkhand has immense potential in the field of sports, particularly in hockey and archery. They said that if talent is encouraged and nurtured from an early age, the state can achieve even better results. Responding to this, the Governor said that Jharkhand has a strong inclination toward sports and has been performing consistently well in hockey, archery, and football. He noted that former Indian cricket captain Shri Mahendra Singh Dhoni hails from Jharkhand, and that the state’s daughters have brought laurels to the nation in hockey. He also mentioned the successful organization of the Hockey India League (HIL) in the state recently.


Speaking on higher education, the Governor said that the state’s position in this sector is not yet up to expectations; however, continuous efforts are being made at his level to bring about improvement. On women’s participation, he said that women in Jharkhand are hardworking and are making commendable progress toward empowerment through the ‘Lakhpati Didi Yojana’. Discussions were also held on various welfare facilities being provided under social security schemes in the state.


The Governor expressed hope that the delegation would have a pleasant and memorable experience during their stay in Jharkhand.


After the interaction, members of the National Defence College delegation also visited the garden at Lok Bhavan, Ranchi.
