Bokaro: In an effort to maintain transparency and prevent the misuse of press identity, the Bokaro district administration has undertaken a renewed verification drive focusing on press accreditation and the use of “PRESS” stickers on vehicles.
The administration has observed that the unchecked display of press denominations on private vehicles can lead to misrepresentation and create avoidable administrative and security concerns. To address this, a systematic screening process has been put in place to ensure that the use of press identification is limited strictly to duly recognised media personnel.
Officials stated that the ongoing exercise is aimed at validating the authenticity of press credentials and establishing clear accountability. The initiative is intended to bring uniformity and discipline in the use of press markings, while safeguarding the professional integrity of genuine journalists.
It may be recalled that similar verification efforts were undertaken by the district administration in the recent past. The current screening drive is being viewed as a continuation of those measures, reflecting a consistent approach towards regulating press accreditation and preventing its misuse.
A recent instance in Bokaro’s Sector 4 area, where a vehicle displaying a press sticker raised suspicion, further underlined the importance of sustained verification and monitoring mechanisms.
The district administration has said that the verification process is being carried out as a facilitative and preventive measure, with the objective of promoting responsible use of press identification.
