Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha has announced a series of education and social awareness initiatives to be launched on January 11, 2026, marking the birth anniversary of Dishom Guru and Jharkhand movement leader Shibu Soren. The programmes are aimed at expanding educational outreach and strengthening social consciousness across the district.
Under the initiative, a Night School will be started for children and youth who are unable to pursue regular education. A 24-hour library with modern facilities will also be inaugurated at the Ramrudra Plus Two School campus in Chas to promote reading habits and knowledge-based learning.
From the same day, all government and private schools will organise a ‘Guruji Debate Competition’ on de-addiction to sensitise students about the ill-effects of substance abuse and encourage healthy, responsible behaviour.
The Deputy Commissioner said the programmes reflect Dishom Guru Shibu Soren’s vision of education as a powerful instrument of social change. He has directed the District Education Officer, District Superintendent of Education and other concerned officials to ensure meticulous preparations and effective implementation, calling the initiatives a sincere tribute to Dishom Guru’s ideals.
