Jharkhand Government Slams Centre’s Apathy — State to Procure Pulses on Its Own, Relief Soon for the Poor

Ranchi :: Jharkhand’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari chaired a departmental review meeting today, stating that this department is directly linked to the kitchen of every household, and therefore, “any kind of negligence or carelessness will not be tolerated.”
He added emphatically, “If our people suffer, I will not sit quietly.”

The minister informed that for the past nine months, around nine lakh poor families in the state had not been receiving sugar. However, the government has now decided that before Diwali, sweetness will return to every poor family’s meal.
He said that strict instructions have been issued to sugar suppliers to ensure that no one faces any difficulty during the festive season.

Dr. Ansari also took aim at the Central Government, accusing it of indifference and delay in supplying pulses to the state. Despite repeated correspondence, the Centre failed to take the issue seriously and even reduced the state’s quota.
Nevertheless, the state government has issued its own tender to procure pulses, ensuring that beneficiaries receive them as soon as possible.

The minister further announced that before Diwali, every Antyodaya family will receive a dhoti, saree, and lungi. Along with these garments, a picture of “Guruji” will also be distributed, symbolizing the state’s heritage and respect for its traditions.

Key Decisions Taken in the Meeting
