Municipal Workers’ Uprising in Ranchi: Protest Rally, Strike Notice Submitted

Ranchi, August 26, 2025 — Daily wage workers of Ranchi Municipal Corporation and drivers and assistants of the Sanitation Corporation organized a massive protest rally today, submitting a formal strike notice to the Municipal Administrator. A large number of corporation workers participated in the demonstration, raising long-pending demands.
The workers’ union reminded officials that the charter of demands had already been submitted to the Labour Commissioner on April 16, 2025. In the meeting held on July 5, only the Assistant Administrator represented the Corporation and stated that final decisions could only be made by the Administrator himself.
