Bokaro Steel Plant Has Potential to Set New Benchmarks, Says Newly Appointed SAIL CMD During Review Visit
Bokaro: Calling for a sharper focus on safety, quality and value-added production, Dr. Ashok Kumar Panda, Chairman and Managing Director of Steel Authority of India Limited, said Bokaro Steel Plant possesses the capability to emerge as one of the best-performing steel units in the country.
Dr. Panda, who recently took over the reins of SAIL, succeeding Amarendu Prakash, made the remarks during his comprehensive review of the plant's operations on Saturday. He emphasized that consistent innovation, efficient maintenance practices and a strong culture of safety would be key drivers of future growth. He also stressed the need to expand the portfolio of value-added steel products to enhance competitiveness and profitability.
The visit included a detailed assessment of production performance, productivity, financial indicators, project implementation and safety management systems at Bokaro Steel Plant. Senior officials presented updates on ongoing initiatives and future plans aimed at improving operational efficiency.
Earlier, Dr. Panda was welcomed at Bokaro Niwas by Priya Ranjan and was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the Central Industrial Security Force. A high-level meeting attended by executive directors, chief general managers and other senior officers followed, during which critical performance parameters and strategic priorities were reviewed.
Expressing confidence in the plant’s workforce and leadership, the SAIL Chairman said that collective efforts, technological innovation and a commitment to excellence would help Bokaro Steel Plant achieve new milestones. He added that the plant’s continued progress would strengthen both SAIL’s growth journey and India's steel sector.
