Ranchi/Dhanbad: Hon’ble Governor Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar today addressed the inaugural ceremony of the Industry–Institute Interaction Conclave and Exhibition on the theme “Smart Mining, Critical Minerals and Green Energy: The Need of Atmanirbhar Bharat” held at the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad.
He said that this conclave, organized on the occasion of the centenary year of IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, is an excellent example of coordination among knowledge, research, and industry. The Governor described the event, organized in collaboration with Vigyan Bharati, CSIR–CIMFR, and Techsmin, as a strong initiative towards Industry–Institute partnership.
The Governor stated that IIT (ISM), Dhanbad has played a significant role in nation-building for nearly a century. Its contributions in the fields of mining, geosciences, and energy have served as a foundation for the country’s industrial development. He said that bringing together experts from education, science, industry, and policy-making on a single platform is highly meaningful.
He emphasized that the role of smart mining and critical minerals has become extremely important in the present time. For a mineral-rich state like Jharkhand, this subject is particularly relevant.
He stressed that mining activities should be carried out in a balanced manner with modern technology, environmental protection, and the interests of local communities, so that development remains sustainable, balanced, and inclusive.
The Hon’ble Governor further said that Jharkhand’s coal, iron ore, bauxite, and other mineral resources provide a strong base for the country’s energy security, infrastructure development, and manufacturing sector.
He noted that under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the nation is moving forward with the resolve of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat@2047. He said that educational institutions and youth have a vital role in building a developed India. Institutions like IIT (ISM) are major centers of innovation and research, where future technologies will be developed.
The Governor expressed hope that the suggestions and resolutions emerging from this conclave will provide a new direction to the country’s industrial and energy sectors.
