Soma Munda Murder Case: CPI (ML) Leaders Meet Family, Demand Fair Investigation

Ranchi: CPI (ML) State Secretary Manoj Bhakt, along with leaders of the Adivasi Sangharsh Morcha, Sudama Khalkho and Jagarnath Uraon, visited Soma Munda’s village, Chalagi, to gather information about the murder and met his family members. The leaders expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and assured them of their support in the fight for justice.

Soma Munda’s wife stated that he was returning to his village after completing some official work at the District Education Officer’s office when unidentified criminals shot him, killing him on the spot. She said that the real culprits have not yet been arrested. She demanded a fair and impartial investigation and urged the police to ensure strict punishment for the guilty. She also appealed that no innocent person should be harassed in this case.

Addressing the gathering, CPI (ML) State Secretary Manoj Bhakt said that the party would always stand with Soma Munda’s family and supporters to carry forward his ideas. He emphasized that the struggle to protect land, forests, and natural resources must be intensified. He said that although the criminals have taken one Soma Munda from among us, not just Khunti but the entire Jharkhand has thousands of Soma Mundas ready to continue this struggle.

Leaders stated that the murder appears to be linked to a land dispute. The police have so far arrested seven accused in the case. Describing the incident as a well-planned conspiracy, they raised serious questions about the state’s law and order situation. They warned that if the government fails to control the rising crime, CPI (ML) and allied organizations would launch a phased statewide movement.

Several leaders, including Sanika Munda, Md. Sohel, and Akash Ranjan, along with hundreds of party workers, were present on the occasion.
