CPI(M) Leadership Reviews National and International Developments

Ranchi/Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala):: The three-day meeting of the Central Committee of the CPI(M) began at the EMS Academy in Thiruvananthapuram. During the meeting, the party’s All India General Secretary, M. A. Baby, presented a detailed report on the national and international political developments that have taken place since the previous meeting.

The report also included key discussion points related to the party’s preparations for the Assembly elections scheduled to be held this year in Kerala, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, and Puducherry. The current political situation and the party’s strategy were also deliberated upon.

The report primarily focused on the Modi government’s attempts to weaken MGNREGA, the implementation of four anti-worker labour codes, preparations to introduce the anti-farmer Seed Bill, the alleged anti-democratic role of the Election Commission, the controversial Central Electricity Amendment Bill, increasing attacks on minorities, and the misuse of constitutional institutions. A proposal was placed for a sustained mass movement against these issues.

Intensive discussions on these matters are ongoing within the Central Committee. During the meeting, members also took a pledge in support of the ‘Resistance Day’ to be observed on January 16, as called by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha.

From Jharkhand, the party’s State Secretary and Central Committee member, Prakash Viplav, is attending the meeting.
