Bokaro, November 6: Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha on Thursday evening visited the Telmacho Damodar river on the Dhanbad–Bokaro border to review the ongoing rescue operations after children from Dhanbad reportedly drowned while bathing.
The DC obtained detailed updates from District Disaster Management Officer Shakti Kumar and directed the NDRF, police, divers and local officials to carry out the operation with speed and coordination.
Following sustained efforts, the rescue team recovered three more bodies, taking the total to four so far. The administration is completing necessary procedures and providing support to the affected families.
Expressing deep sorrow, DC Jha conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and assured all possible administrative assistance. He urged residents to exercise caution around water bodies and ensure that children are not left unattended near rivers or ponds.
The operation is under the supervision of Additional Collector Md. Mumtaz Ansari, with disaster management, police, and block officials present at the site.
